About the Opportunity The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals, families, groups, communities and populations across the life span and is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care. He/she provides clinical leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient/client care settings and has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidenced based nursing practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the plan of care to achieve patient/client outcomes and supports the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship. The RN contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the unit, coordination of patient care and staffing, and accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing competencies through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research, and continuous quality activities. The RN practices according to the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards of Nursing Practice, specialty standards as applicable, and the policies and procedures of Nova Scotia Health.
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Registered or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN) Required or must obtain within 1- 2 years of hire (depending on course availability and operational requirements) : CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale) EPICC – Foundations (Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care – Canada) BLS-C (Basic Life Support – C) ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support); EPICC – Pediatrics (Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care – Canada) or ENPC (Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course) Trauma course – EPICC - Trauma (Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care – Canada); Rural Trauma Program or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) Previous acute care experience an asset Emergency Nursing Program or Critical Care Nursing Program an sset ENC© Certification an asset Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other health care provide and staff while demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth Ability to demonstrate sound decision-making skills in crisis situations and be accountable for decisions Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health Basic computer skills Physical and mental capabilities to perform duties of the position Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Where there are no applicants who meet the above qualification, consideration may be given to applicants who agree to complete further training within two years’ of hire date Please ensure your resume includes all relevant education, experience, training and certifications.

Opportunities & Hours Permanent Full-time 1.0% - 5 positions Casual Relief (no guarantee of hours) Salary & Incentives $35.2108 - $41.4848 hourly $42.9366 hourly with 25 years RN experience Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Successful candidates may also be eligible for signing bonus and relocation assistance for a return of service commitment - Approximately one (1) year return of service for every $5,000 provided to a maximum of three (3) years.
