Dalhousie University

Felix Marchand Education Centre

Located in Louisdale and operated under the Strait Regional Centre for Education. Felix Marchand Education Centre is an elementary school, serving students between pre-primary to grade four.

East Richmond Education Centre

East Richmond Education Centre located in the village of St. Peter’s. This elementary school includes a daycare facility, and educates students from pre-primary to grade eight. EREC offers French Immersion programs for its students beginning in pre-primary to grade eight.

Ecole Beau-Port

Part of the Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial, Ecole Beau-Port is a solely French speaking school located in Arichat and serving student from grades pre-primary-twelve.

Richmond Education Centre & Academy

Located in Louisdale, Richmond Education Centre educates students from grades five to twelve. Operated under the Strait Regional Centre for Education school board. Richmond Education Centre and Academy opened in #### as a new high school facility for students in Richmond County and includes a new Skilled Trades Centre to better connect high school students to opportunities in the trades which are in high demand in the region.

Tamarac Education Centre

An elementary school in the Town of Port Hawkesbury, operated under the Strait Regional Centre for Education. Tamarac offers French Immersion programs for its students beginning in pre-primary to grade eight.

Strait Area Education Recreation Centre

Located in Port Hawkesbury, the high-school educates students from grade nine-twelve. SAERC opened its doors in 1977 as a state-of-the-art building offering educational and recreational programs to its surrounding communities. It’s salt-water pool is home to swimming and diving programs for all ages, and the ###-seat auditorium hosts entertaining shows of all kinds!

St. Francis Xavier University

A short, forty-minute commute from Cape Breton South, sits the Town of Antigonish, home to one of Canada’s top Universities, St. FX. Consistently ranked one of the top universities in Canada by MacLeans Magazine, St. FX offers academic programs in arts, science, business, and other health related fields.

The Bachelor of Arts and Science in Health is a four-year degree that takes an interdisciplinary approach to health and draws on scientific, social and humanistic knowledge. Students will learn to think about a health in different ways than previously taught and that much of health is determined by factors outside of ourselves and our physiology.

Cape Breton University

Nova Scotia Community College

The Nova Scotia Community College has two institutions on Cape Breton Island; the Strait Area Campus located in the Town of Port Hawkesbury and the Marconi Campus located in Sydney.

The Strait Area Campus is in the Town of Port Hawkesbury. Students enjoy a spacious and friendly campus environment, amazing outdoor spaces and trails, as well as excellent recreation fitness and entertainment services that are offered in the area year-round. The Strait Area Campus also offers programs in Wagmatcook First Nation at the renovated Wagmatcook Learning Centre. Home to the world-class Nautical Institute, the campus offers state-of-the-art technology such as simulators, a wave-tank, fire training centre on-site, and a new waterfront Ocean Innovation Centre focused on the latest in marine safety training.

The Marconi Campus offers a range of programs and a friendly learning atmosphere. Students enjoy plenty of open space with comfy seating, quiet study areas, wireless access and computer labs. The campus business centre serves as an incubator for small businesses and provides opportunities for students to work part-time in their field of study, and build their portfolio. It also provides the resources to help them develop their own small business ideas. The trades wing features shop space, classrooms, offices and a green design, meeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. The province of Nova Scotia is investing $18 million in a brand new waterfront location for this campus that will improve program quality and delivery; work began on this project in 2020.

Both campuses offer health related programs in the Practical Nursing and Continuing Care fields.
